In other words, search engines like Google, Yahoo! and MSN crawls the web periodically to find and index new pages that will be included in the keyword search results (keyword search result). Each link on the web page will be followed (follow) during the indexing process. Pages that are followed by multiple and relevant incoming links will be ranked higher in searches than pages that have a small incoming link. If you want the links on your blog not indexed by search engines use the NoFollow tag. The use of NoFollow tags has become very popular over the past few years due to several factors such as paid text link ads, spammers who try to increase the number of links to their sites by spamming comments, etc.
How do rel = 'nofollow' attributes work?
When a search engine spider comes to a web page, the standard response is to index the page and follow all the links on the page but when the search engine spider sees the links to the nofollow attribute it will work as follows:- Will not follow / follow links to new sites
- Do not enter text links within the relevance value for keywords
- Don't count links to score popularity in search engine rankings
<a href='http://www.facebook.com' rel='nofollow'> Facebook </a>The html nofollow tag above is a command so that the search engines do not follow the link to Facebook and the automatic search engine will not index the Facebook page
Search engines will not punish your site or blog if on a web page you have a nofollow link , don't think that using nofollow is bad or spam, using nofollow links indicates the search engine that the link is not yours or not to follow
Where should rel = 'nofollow' be placed?
Most search engines advise us to place a nofollow tag on a link that comes from a source that you cannot guarantee / you don't know like:- Comment
- Forums
- User generated content
