Understanding SSD and what is the difference between SSD and HDD
What is an SSD? what is the difference in SSD with HDD? What makes the SSD different from the HDD ?, It is the same as a DarkModGames storage device whose function is the same as storing data on a computer or laptop.
The SSD or Solid State Drive with HDD is basically the same as storing data, but it's just that the SSD doesn't store data on magnetic layers like the HDD. while SSDs store all the data on a flash memory chip chip that is connected to each other.
HDD has less resistance compared to SSD ( Solid State Drive), because HDD still uses hard disk or magnetic discs inside it while SSD is a hard disk that uses non volatile memory technology as its storage.
So that's why HDDs will soon be abandoned and replaced by SSDs. The HDD is also easily damaged and if the data is damaged automatically the data inside the HDD will be lost.
The flash memory used by the SSD is certainly different from the flash memory that is used by the flashdisk either in terms of speed or type.
Difference between SSD and HDD

1. Price
One SSD unit is expensive for the price problem, the price ratio between HDD and SSD is almost 5x. Examples of SSDs with a capacity of 120GB can cost up to 600 thousand. While with 600 thousand we can buy a HDD with a much larger capacity of 500GB.
2. Read and write speed
As I wrote above, SSDs are relatively expensive with little storage capacity, but in this section SSD shows a very significant difference. Speed for reading and writing on SSDs up to 8 times faster than HDDs, PCs that use SSDs as a storage media system can pass the boot process in seconds.
Whereas for a longer time HDD required depends on the specifications and certainly not faster than the SSD, that's one reason SSDs are more expensive.
3. Shape and weight
The material contained on the HDD, such as the platter, head, etc. is very influential on the size or dimensions and weight of the HDD itself. The technology used by HDD is very dependent on the rotation of hard disks that are inside the HDD, this limits how small the HDD can be produced.
Whereas the HDD is free from this limitation, so that the size of the SSD can be shrunk along with the times, the size of SSD currently available has a size of 2.5 inches, that means this SSD is only intended for laptop or notebook users.

4. Effects that are caused
HDD applies mechanical elements, so it can produce bad side effects. Side effects caused include:
- Excessive heat
- HDD consumes high electrical power

- SDD consumes very little power
- There is no dish rotation making the SSD not cause any noise at all
5. Components and working principles
The mechanical part on the HDD consists of a dish, a motor and an arm connected to a dish. The process of writing and reading data is done through a mechanical process in which the disk is rotated by a motor and the end of the arm connected to an electronic component that processes data read or write, attaches to the rotating disk and performs the writing and reading activities of the data.
In general, data processing on HDD is done because of the synergy between mechanical and electrical activities. While on the SSD in processing data, writing and reading data is not supported by mechanical processes, there are no mechanical components such as motors and arms and rotating disks.
On the SSD there are only electronic components such as Integrated Circuit or IC, micro chip and other supporting electronic components such as capacitors. All the process of reading and writing data is done electrically just like the process that occurs in Flashdisk and RAM.
6. Fragmentation
Because of its spiral shape, HDD is very good for storing large files located on adjacent blocks. And when HDD capacity starts full, the files that have been stored can be scattered, this is what is known as fragmentation.
HDD needs to do fragmentation to keep the HDD working normally, so it can be used continuously. This is what I don't like using the HDD because if I don't do defrag, the HDD condition will decrease in performance.
Whereas on the SSD there is no need to do fragmentation, because the data already stored on the SSD uses Flash memory or memory chip so it doesn't need to be fragmented periodically like HDD.
Note: If you have more sustenance, it is better for you to buy an SSD because with us using the SSD the boot process or data transfer will be faster than the HDD.
